I am beyond blessed to play tennis with some amazing women who have taken me in so kindly. A couple months ago, after a regular Wednesday match, we all went over the the club to have lunch. SEVEN hours of talking and drinking later...we had booked a trip to Vail and were leaving IN THE MORNING!!! Last minute trips are the best. I am totally convinced. Nobody could have warned me how much fun I was going to have or how hard I was going to laugh. We spent 4 days in Vail shopping, "spa-ing," dining, and playing games. We were the ONLY group staying at the Ritz-Carlton, so they treated us so nicely, knew our names, bought us Catch Phrase and didn't mind if we made a "little extra noise." I love Vail!

I know you can't see this. BUT we each got to release two baby turtles to the ocean. They were so so so cute and tiny. We weren't allow to flash in their face, so I didn't actually get a picture.

The food was outstanding. Best food I've actually ever had in Mexico. That says a lot.

There were two parrots that lived freely at the hotel. There was one that was very friendly and would fly across the property...even to the pool!

No pictures were taken, but we spent several hours at the spa...what the hotel is known for. Great trip to getaway with just the McCoys girls. Relax and enjoy before the wedding planning got too serious!

Sugar Creek Sweet Shot Tournament 2011

What a weekend! Yet another awesome turn out at the Sugar Creek Sweet Shot Golf & Tennis Tournament. The events started Thursday and ended very late Saturday night. Unlce Matt & Aunt Kathy came into town to play with Terry & Cindy. Justin played with Tim and Kelly & I played together.

After our morning break, Kelly & I decided to run over to JAM and get a new outfit. We needed to change things up to get back into our game. It worked. We played awesome Saturday afternoon in the play-offs and ended up WINNING!

Horseshoe Pond

Kelly & John got the families together this past weekend at the Rainbolt's ranch, "Horseshoe Pond." Halletsville is only an hour and a half away, so the drive was quick. Carol was brave enough to let the McCoys take ALL the dogs, so we had 6 dogs at the ranch for the weekend. They were very entertaining & mostly well behaved. We played with all their "toys" (shuffle board, ping pong, basketball, washers, etc), rode around in the Polaris to see the property & cows, shot the guns, ate incredibly well, laughed a lot, and enjoyed stalking John & Kelly as they took their engagement pictures. We took some family pictures, ate dinner & stayed up late chatting it up under the awesome, country star-filled sky. Great weekend & can't wait to go back in two months.

Girls Weekend @ Debbie's

I am just getting the chance to post some pictures from our girls weekend in DFW. A couple weeks ago (after planning around teacher & nurses schedules) our family finally got back together. We had a great weekend full of pool time, family & awesome food.

I drove in really early Friday and had lunch with Amy, Kelsey, Mia and Taryn. After lunch, Amy, Mia and I headed to Grapevine. We ran a few errands and then were ready to party at Debbie's. Debbie loaded Mia up with kitchen items for some entertainment and we headed outside.

Mattie even got invited!

We played with Mia for a long time in the pool and then Mia hit the hammock for a nap. Anne, Erin, Tricia & Ashley all made it over. We soaked in more rays and then it was time for Mia's bath. Always an adventure! This is when we really get to see her personality come out. She reminds me so much of Amy...its really fun to see.

We had our traditional lasagna dinner and then hit the pool after dark.

The next morning, we headed to Joe T's for brunch. Mia was dressed in her Tech game day attire : ) and kept Anne busy running after her as she explored the outdoors. Joe T's never disappoints.

After lunch, we headed back for some more pool time (including all the dogs) while Tricia got some work done & Debbie started on dinner. She is the greatest host ever. Seriously.

River Trip 2011

Since 2003, we have gone to the Guadalupe River. The first few years we went, we camped out as poor college students, then moved to a more sophisticated camping area, then to our first river house... and now, a multi million dollar house. Wonder where we get to stay next year?! Carlos has planned our last two trips, which explains why we stay at really nice places, but its his excuse to get everyone together and plan a darn good party (always around his birthday!). We are always down for a good party!

Friday afternoon Justin, Carlos & I hit the road after picking up all the groceries and packing the toys and games. After a fairly quick drive we got there, met the owners at the house with Lance & Kaleigh, unpacked and waited for everyone to arrive. We played some yard games and enjoyed getting back together with some of our favorite people. Carlos had dinner catered by Coopers BBQ. After everyone arrived & dinner, we headed out to Gruene Hall for Roger Creager's sold out Birthday Show! AWESOME show.

After the show was over, the Johnsons (Cody & Kristin) graciously picked us up and drove us down the road back to our house. We were happy to get to see them since they were in a wedding all weekend and couldn't actually float with us. We stayed up late swimming & playing drinking games...just like we were still in college. We eventually all made it back to beds and crashed.

The next morning, the boys made breakfast outside and we continued the party. Breakfast tacos, mimosas & bloody's, swimming and washers. Then Pinky's arrived to pick us up to float.

Well planned: we got dropped off up river and floated until we came back to our house. Success! It worked out perfect. Some of the boys decided to camp out by the river and watch the others float by, while the girls decided to come back and lay out in the pool.

For dinner, the boys grilled burgers. We hung out in the pool until way past dark...and called it bedtime way to late!

Sunday morning we cleaned up, packed up the car and headed to the Gristmill for lunch before everyone drove back home (Lubbock, Dallas, San Antonio & Houston). Another awesome River Trip with incredible, lifelong friends. Can't wait until next year. Happy Birthday Los!

Granbury

Justin & I wanted to get our friends that have recently had babies out of their houses and together for a weekend getaway. Fortunately for us, Uncle Nick & Aunt Susie let us borrow their lake house for the weekend in Granbury. This was the perfect place! Trent & Danielle came down from Ft Worth with their little girl Ella and Caleb & Elizabeth came up from League City with their little guy Graham! Both of these kiddos are 4 months old and this was their first weekend away from home. How lucky are we to be able to spend time with our friends even after they just had their babies?! Granbury was the perfect weekend trip for all of us- baby friendly and so very relaxing. Lucas & Elise were also able to join in last minute. Thank you Danielle for all your planning & cooking! We enjoyed the sun, lake & pool during the day and enjoyed catching up and some games at night. It is so much fun watching these two kids interact & grow up. Beautiful babies! My sweet college roommate tied the knot this weekend at Delaney Vineyards! Living together for three years gave us lots of time to talk about our "dream husbands" and Kyle is definitely her "dream." Welcome to reality Kayla- you got your gorgeous football coach! I can not think of a better match for one another. This sweet, fun loving, Christian, sports fanatic couple gets to spend the rest of their lives outside Dallas doing exactly what they love. Congrats you two on finding each other at just the right time in your life!

The night before the Big Day, we all headed out to downtown Grapevine and celebrated. Justin and I had spent the afternoon walking around the historic downtown, wandering into shops and having a fabulous Italian dinner, so this was a great night-cap for us!

Saturday we met up with the new Grimes family to meet Miss Ella June & enjoy lunch together. She is adorable (duh) and is the most well trained baby I've ever met. Sleeps through the night, content and quiet when visitors are there. Tolerant of all animals and loud things. She is just perfect. Can't wait to spend this weekend with you guys! Congrats on your new bundle of joy!!

July 4th!

We had a very relaxing July 4th! We decided to stay in town and hang around Sugar Creek CC with some of our best friends- Kyla & Wyatt! The boys played a bit of golf and the girls shopped and lounged by the pool enjoying lunch & cocktails. Then the boys joined us for a long time poolside!

After we were water logged, we grilled and took the boat out. It was a wonderful day!

The next day Justin and I got a few things done around the house and then decided to check out the family scene at Sugar Creek. We were one of the few fortunate couples that got an inside table to watch all the festivities. SCCC put on an awesome day full of events for the families. There were pool games and contests, huge inflatables and water slides, cotton candy and snow cones, face painting, rock climbing wall and lots of food! They even had a video arcade and dance studio set up where the kids were dancing to music videos all together. There were the most gorgeous & well behaved children all around. We really did enjoy just people watching!

After dinner, we set up our chairs and got ready for the fireworks. We were one of the very few cities around Texas that actually allowed fireworks...so we felt very fortunate! Awesome show by Sugar Creek...I hope we do it again next year.

Monday night (the 4th) I tried to go to bed early since I had to work the next several days, but about half an hour after getting into bed...it sounded like our house was being shot at! The dogs were going crazy and Justin and I met stunned in the hallway. After deciding we were not in a war zone, we stepped outside. Ta Dah!!!! Fireworks! The City of Sugar Land's firework show was just beginning and they were shooting off from the park down the street. So we sat in our driveway and watched more fireworks. Amazing show. Better than the fireworks from the lawn of the Capital Building years ago in DC! Wish I had grabbed my camera, but we all know what fireworks look like : ) After a great, LONG show, I was finally able to get back in bed and get a little sleep before my alarm went off. Happy Independence Day!

I am eXtReMeLy fortunate that my grandparents are happy & healthy...and live in the most wonderful place on Earth! I went down to Mexico a few days after getting back from Italy. You know you always say "I need a vacation after a vacation?!" Well, I got it! After being a typical tourist in Italy with lots of walking and sightseeing, I got to spend a week doing nothing but sitting on a beach, enjoying cold beverages and eating guacamole. Delightful!

My morning started early...I left the house around 5:30am, drove myself to the airport, waited forever for the shuttle, enjoyed some tea, boarded, landed in Phoenix, RAN through the airport to catch the tiny plane in time and landed in San Carlos where Grammy and my mom were waiting. Welcome to Paradise!!!

We went to JJ's for lunch where DD met up with us. Then headed straight to the Soggy Peso.

We enjoyed a full afternoon of sun & Tecate, and then ventured home. Showered and ready to go again, we headed back to the Soggy Peso for the Full Moon Party!!!

The next morning my mom and I got up early and walked the town. We have been coming to San Carlos for 26 years, so it's fun to see the changes. Every year, there are more new houses, resturaunts, shops, etc, but our favorite places have remained unchanged. Here are some pics from the walk:

Today we had some entertainment! This bar tender was "skipping" and his roommates dog looooved chasing him. My mom was obsessed with this little dog that looks like a mix of her last two dogs: Doberman & Rat Terrior. She wants one...seriously. The little dog would come over to us and enjoy a little shade in between his runs!

A big thanks to Grammy for my private salsa dancing lesson!!! I'll spare everyone the videos, but it's safe to say I will be sticking with tennis.

After another perfect & relaxing day of doing nothing, we ate at Charlie's Rock! I have a picture of me here when I was 3 years old!!! Wish I could find it and post it...I'll try.

The next day Aunt Debbie came to play in San Carlos!!! So after a morning of playing with our iPads and Kindles, we headed to the airport. My grandparents are the smartest people in the world and they have been able to keep with the technology better than me! After showing them my iPad, they are getting one...how awesome are they?!

Milan & Lake Como

I can't imagine leaving for another trip and not posting about Milan, so this is going to be a photo summary of the trip. I took over 700 pictures (no joke), so these are just a few of the good ones! Milan was awesome. We learned several things about the true Italians: their drinks are very strong, and they look at you like you're crazy when you ask for a soda with your liquor. Their "public toilets" as in bars, are holes in the ground, literally. They don't care at all about the English language. They serve tons of appetizers when you order a drink...it's awesome. They have a mass amount of umbrellas...I believe we bought a total of 9 while we were there. The subway system is amazing; Houston should have caught on. Clothes, purses, accessories, etc are expensive...much more than the US! The food is spectacular, as long as you aren't wanting any fruits or veggies. Gelato is the greatest invention. Blondes don't exist in Milan. Their churches are tucked in every few blocks or so and they are the most gorgeous buildings I have ever seen. The architecture over there makes US look like slums. Beautiful buildings and churches...I cannot explain that enough. They are so elaborate! They eat late. Lunch between 12-2, and places don't even open up for dinner until well after 7:30. Fabulous visit to Milan, Italy. The McCoy girls CONQUERED that city! As for the small towns around Lake Como (such as Bellagio), take me back. Let me spend a week there!

Three Years Later...

Justin & I celebrated our three year anniversary this week : ) We could not possible be any happier. God has truly blessed us, and our life together. We are filled with love, wonderful memories, family, friends, happiness, and lots of travel! I am so grateful to have met Justin at Tech in October of 2003...and cannot believe how far we have come from that day. I did not think in a million years that the hot frat boy would one day become my husband, and someday the father of my children. As we were celebrating "low key" this week, we went out to dinner and reminisced about our wedding day. How perfect everything was for us, and how lucky we were to be surrounded by our family & friends. I went through and picked some of my favorite pictures to post to remind us of our wedding day. What a celebration that was! We had originally planned on spending our 3-year anniversary together by having a dinner out in Milan, but Justin didn't play by the "no gifts this year" rule, and surprised me with an iPad2! So, I ordered him all new grill gadgets & a remote controlled boat for the lake. I had to get him something too ; ) We are still planning on that nice dinner in Italy...as we leave for Milan in less than one week!!!!!

A Quick Trip to Ft Worth

My mom was flying in Saturday from Australia for her 6-week "back to my girls" tour. I really wanted to surprise her, but with other circumstances going on that weekend, I didn't know if I would be able to get away. However, my sweet husband told me to go!!! So, I made a last minute phone call to my Aunt Debbie and jumped in the car. I made a quick stop along the way to pick up some kolaches & let Mattie out, and got to Ft Worth just in time to head straight to the airport. My mom's flight had landed thirty minutes early! So, I drove quickly, found a great parking spot, grabbed the leash for Mattie, and attempted to find the right gate to pick her up. The plan was for my mom to call Debbie and let her know where she was and then Debbie was going to pick her up. Sounds easy, right? Not so much. Pulling a dog around an airport, up and down escalators, construction making detours, and the time crunch made for an interesting attempt to surprise her. However, after asking three people where the heck to go and calling Debbie, I found my mom sitting outside on a bench. She kept starring at Mattie, not recognizing her (due to the lack of 5-in hair!) and didn't even notice me. I was within three feet and she finally looked up and saw me. Best. Moment. Ever. The look alone on my mom's face made that drive completely worth it!!! I definitely surprised her!

So we weaved back through the terminal and found the car and headed to Debbie's house.

Awesome timing on my mom coming in town. Brittany's brother Paul had just graduated from the US Coast Guard, so people came from out of town to celebrate. My cousin Brian & Brittany flew in from DC, Erin came up from Katy, Natalee drove in, Anne & Carl came over...it was awesome. We had a wonderful evening.

We woke up the next morning and enjoyed sitting by the pool and talking for hours. Then, B&B came over and we had a big breakfast thanks to Debbie! As we looked around the table, we knew there were not going to be many more moments like this. Anne & Carl, Brian & Brittany, Erin, Debbie & Travis, my mom & me. I am so thankful for my family. Love them all to pieces. After breakfast & a little car tune-up thanks to Carl, I headed back home. I hate that my mom lives on the other side of the world, but I am thankful that she gets to spend lots of time here this summer. She is now visiting with my sister & Mia, and then we will all meet up in Mexico with my grandparents! How lucky are we?!

Graham's Baptism & Friends

We started out this weekend with lots of time at Sugar Creek. Justin played golf while I played tennis on Friday. Cindy and I got some sun by the pool in the afternoon and then we ate at the clubhouse for dinner. Terry was in a golf tournament at River Bend CC, so it was just us three! Saturday morning, Justin and I played a little golf and then joined Cindy to hit a few more after lunch. There was a crawfish boil and live music, so we were definitely entertained!

Then we headed back to the house and cleaned up for our guests. We had Tracy, Stephen & Drew in town to celebrate Tracy's birthday. We went out to a seafood place in Town Square for dinner and then relaxed at the house a bit until our cab arrived to take us downtown. We ended up on Washington crashing a random high school reunion! Justin enjoyed himself making sure everyone had signed in and was giving out the name tags. It was really funny. These guys always have a good time when they get back together. Drew also convinced his sister to join us. We probably could have just stayed in Sugar Land, but we had to compromise a little.

We called it a night and headed home. We stayed up way too late, but had a wonderful time catching up with friends. The next morning we headed to Fajita Flats for breakfast and then got ready for Graham's Baptism down in Galveston.

Justin and I met up with Caleb and Liz and rode with them to Galveston to the same church they got married in, so their 8 week old son could be baptized. Graham wore his grandfathers same outfit! After a quick change in the car, even Justin held Graham and got some smiles out of him!

Beautiful church. Intimate ceremony. Wonderful turn out of people. Caleb and Liz chose to do a private baptism, so the whole ceremony was only focused on Graham. He was such a wonderful baby during the whole thing! After the baptism, we headed back to the Rabon's house and enjoyed wonderful food, drinks, and a few games of bags.

We enjoyed the end of another beautiful Houston sunset on our way home. Perfect end to a fun filled weekend!

Tennis Tournament & Wedding Weekend

A couple weeks ago Tricia and I played in the Sugar Creek CC Member-Guest Tournament together. The weather was absolutely perfect for tennis. We had great food, frozen drinks, music, gifts and a wonderful turn out. There were three flights, and ~8 teams in each flight. After playing some of our best tennis, we came out on top and won first place! Here's a photo re-cap of the tournament.

I am one very lucky (& appreciative) girl! I love living in Sugar Land. I love living two minutes away from my in-laws. I love my job, even though it's far away and I love that I only have to work 3 days a week. I love playing tennis. I love the spring weather. I love the sun.

Chase's Wedding

One of my very best friends growing up got married this past weekend! I am so thankful I was able to get off work and attend the wedding. He married Erin Ryan, sweet & beautiful southern girl. The wedding was at Faith UMC, where Chase & I went to church together growing up.

The wedding was full of flashbacks! I had no idea who I was going to see at the wedding and much to my liking, I got to spend the evening with the O'Donnells & Nelsons. I didn't spend much time away from these families for SEVERAL years, so it was so nice to catch up!
